BPO Tops African Exports.

BPO refers to business outsourcing from one country to another. Business Process Outsourcing is Africa’s leading technology export as compared to other countries. Technology in Africa is being utilized by multinational companies in other countries for outsourcing services at reasonable rates than they would have paid in their own country. It is clear that technology in Africa is cheaper as compared to other continents. It is therefore cheaper to outsource in Africa than have those services done in their own countries.

There have been different surveys carried out to determine Business Process Outsourcing’s benefit to African technology sector. It is therefore rated that in most African countries, Business Process Outsourcing takes almost 90 percent in technology related exports to other foreign countries.

Within the African region, there has been reduction in tariff barriers easing the business environment by creating a more contusive atmosphere for doing business. Technology in Africa therefore becomes one of the key sectors targeted for exploitation by most of African countries in order to earn revenue.

An example of a key export zone in Africa for technology purposes is Kenya. Kenya’s technology in Africa is regarded as one of the best with its more institutionalized Business Processing Outsourcing. As compared with other sectors like insurance, legal and engineering services, BPO is the largest earner. Technology in Africa if embraced well could give African countries the much needed foreign currency.
